L'AUTRE RIVES, LET'S GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER
The character of a 1930s residence alongside the cream of contemporary design ; the charm of a large garden and the attractions of the city – opposites combine to create balance and harmony.
Our house dates back to the 20th century, completed just before the Second World War. Fifteen months of renovation work were needed to bring L’Autre Rives up to date and adapt it to its new function – that of welcoming guests, allowing them to recharge their batteries and discover our beautiful city of Albi and the treasures of the Tarn department.
We have preserved the most beautiful elements of the house (marble fireplaces, art deco moldings, herringbone shaped parquet flooring and the oak staircase – a veritable backbone of the house – and the mosaic flooring) and combined them with contemporary furniture and pieces.
Have you noticed the sloping slate roof, which is unusual in the region, giving it an imposing appearance and enabling you to spot it from afar, from the other side of the Tarn ?

Multi-talented ‘Jill of all trades’
We’re both from the south-west of France. We left to finish our studies and work in Paris and then decided, after some twenty years, to return to our roots and be closer to our families. Philippe continues with his old job, while I left a career in the pharmaceutical industry to create this guest house, a place that reflects my personality and puts people at the heart of the project.

Our white Swiss Shepherd will be the guardian of your nights. A little demonstrative when you arrive, he’ll make sure you forget all about him, unless you wish to stroke him or play.
Nature and biodiversity
Listen to the birds singing, the bees buzzing, the relaxing sound of the pool, and even the rustling of the leaves in the breeze. Imagine the scent of lavender, jasmine and honeysuckle.
You’re not dreaming, you really are in the city ! Welcome to our haven of peace in the center of Albi.
The pool at our guesthouse is salt water, so it doesn’t sting your eyes. And the icing on the cake, the lining is as soft as a peach’s skin – a real treat! You can enjoy basking on a large, immersed bench in the shallow end or even relax with the hydro-massaging jets.
No pesticides, but plenty of elbow grease; unspoilt nature just a stone’s throw from the banks of the Tarn,with some trees almost a hundred years old (cypresses, birches, liquidambar and pomegranate) and discreet roommates – except for the toads during the mating season but we forgive them!
Located in the town centre, a stone’s throw from the banks of the river Tarn, L’Autre Rives enjoys a privileged and unspoilt environment, with the presence of some specimens of the local fauna that you will be able to spot during your stay at L’Autre Rives.

Just a 10-minute walk from the historic center, Sainte-Cécile Cathedral and the Toulouse Lautrec Museum, yet in a quiet and green setting – welcome to our country house with a swimming pool in the city center !

An establishment on a human scale, with attentive, personalized service and a warm welcome. Five spacious and comfortable guest rooms, each with its own style and always designed with contemporary spirit. You can choose between the Vintage, the Scandinavian, the Baroque or the Ethnic room and even the Zen suite.
DESIGN
Passionate about design and architecture, the owners have preserved the original materials and mixed vintage furniture with contemporary design classics : Charles Eames, Ron Arad, Patricia Urquiola, Ross Lovegrove, Constance Guisset, Inga Sempé, …
ANECDOTE
Maybe you have wondered about the origin of the house name and the reason for the “S” at the end of Rives? Look hard… some have found it, so why not you! And if you still don’t find it, ask Isabelle, who’ll be delighted to tell you the whole story.
